Bheemashakti (Focus on Flexibility)

Troy Munsey

Troy Munsey is the Co-Director of the Bheemashakti Yoga School in San Diego, California. He has been practicing yoga since 2003 and has studied under many teachers from several lineages. Through this experience Troy discovered that all yoga is one, the only differences being the techniques and teachers who transmit them; these are ultimately what a student falls in love with first. In order to enter higher states of yoga, students must learn to see through the surface layers of their experience. Only by developing focus and clarity of mind will this vision be granted. Students are encouraged to practice with curiosity, independence, dedication, and a healthy dose of non-attachment. Maintaining these qualities of practice will help develop a clear mind, light heart, and healthy body.

Troy's experience is heavily informed by Bheemashakti, Ashtanga, and Rocket Vinyasa systems. As a result he teaches a dynamic combination of Kriya, Asana, Meditation and Pranayama in order to help students open and energize their bodies in all directions. He believes that the yoga practice must conform to the student (not the student to the practice) so he prefers intimate classes with individual instruction and hands on adjustments.

Troy's greatest joy as a teacher is to see a student become a master!

Bheemashakti Yoga consists of physical exercises (kriyas) combined with dynamic breathing practices (pranayama) and harmonizing meditations to prepare the student for any level of yogic practice one desires. Conditioning the body in this way accelerates the improvement of any existing asana practice.
 
This is a unique system that is informed by the ancient practices of Swara Yoga. The teachings are centered around the "Seven Dimensions of the Body" concept which provides students with a systematic approach to opening and energizing the body in all directions for the goal of self-mastery. 
 
Instruction follows a rhythmic cycle to balance the energies in the body and is tailored to the individual needs of each student.
 
Every Tuesday we'll focus on flexibility and every Thursday Strengthening. This class is open to all levels and experience.
